Horrible news has been confirmed for Manchester united ahead of PAOK FC match tonight in the Europa league. 🚨 Big problems for van nistelrooy😬this is not looking good for us💔
Amad Diallo is set to step in for Alejandro Garnacho, while Joshua Zirkzee will take on the role of central striker as Manchester United prepares for their match against PAOK at Old Trafford on Thursday. United will be aiming to secure their first win in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League season, and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has a nearly full squad, with no fresh injury concerns affecting his selections.
Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire remain out due to persistent calf injuries, while Kobbie Mainoo is recovering from a hamstring issue, and Antony is managing an ankle injury. However, Mason Mount and Leny Yoro have returned to training, providing a boost to the squad.
Christian Eriksen’s availability is still uncertain as he recovers from a minor injury. In his pre-match press conference, van Nistelrooy shared updates on Yoro’s recovery and progress, along with news on Malacia, Shaw, and Maguire. He stated, “He’s [Yoro] been carefully managed since his preseason injury. The recovery was always expected to be lengthy, and this return to training is a significant step. He’ll be gradually reintegrated into the team over the next few weeks.”
Discussing Malacia and Maguire, van Nistelrooy said, “Tyrell is the furthest along, training fully with the team and may see some game time, possibly with the under-21s. Harry is still focused on his indoor rehab, while Luke has begun pitch work and is nearing partial team training soon.”
Andre Onana will start in goal, with United likely to use a 4-2-3-1 formation. The defense will feature Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Noussair Mazraoui. Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte will provide central support in midfield, with Bruno Fernandes in the attacking midfield role. Diallo and Marcus Rashford are expected to play as wingers, with Zirkzee leading the attack, while Rasmus Hojlund and Garnacho may be options from the bench.
Expected Manchester United XI: Onana; Dalot, de Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Ugarte, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Rashford
