Antony agent confirms Liverpool transfer talks amid Mohamed Salah contract negotiations. Antony is likely to replace Mo Salah if Salah leaves next summer 😂

Manchester United winger Antony’s agent has revealed that Liverpool had shown interest in signing the Brazilian star before Mohamed Salah extended his contract in 2022.

The interest arose as Liverpool explored potential replacements while Salah’s future at the club remained uncertain. However, Salah eventually signed a record-breaking contract extension during a trip to Mykonos in June 2022, solidifying his place in the team. Since then, Salah has continued his stellar form, scoring 65 goals for Liverpool, including 27 in the Premier League, and bringing his total tally to 221 goals since joining the club in 2017.

With Salah’s current contract nearing its expiration, he will soon be eligible to discuss pre-contract agreements with clubs outside England. Alongside him, teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nearing the end of their contracts, posing further challenges for Liverpool’s management.

Antony, who made an £81.3 million switch from Ajax to Manchester United in the summer of 2022, was reportedly among Liverpool’s potential targets two years ago. According to The Times, his name surfaced during the period when Salah’s future was still undecided.

In an interview with winwin.com, Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, confirmed the Reds’ interest, stating, “Yes, it’s true. However, the negotiations didn’t progress because Salah renewed his deal with Liverpool, which closed the door for Antony to join.”

While Salah has thrived under Liverpool’s system, Antony has struggled to make a similar impact at Manchester United. The 24-year-old has managed only five goals and three assists across 56 Premier League games and has featured just twice this season. Manchester United has also faced broader challenges, recently replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim after a difficult start to the

campaign.
