Advantage for Real Madrid Fans 🤩

Liverpool fans were left anxious after witnessing a risky challenge involving one of their key players during international duty on Tuesday night.

Alexis Mac Allister, who recently recovered from a groin injury, played nearly the full match in Argentina’s victory over Peru. However, a late incident during the game caused some alarm among Reds supporters.

Mac Allister Faces Scare in Argentina’s Clash with Peru

In the 88th minute, with Argentina holding onto a 1-0 lead, Mac Allister was brought down by Peruvian defender Carlos Zambrano. The referee, Wilmar Roldán, issued Zambrano a yellow card for the challenge.

However, footage from TyC Sports revealed the tackle was dangerously high, late, and delivered with studs up—an offense that many felt warranted a red card. Fortunately, Mac Allister escaped the incident without injury.

Earlier in the match, Zambrano also drew criticism for an altercation with Lionel Messi. The Argentine captain, visibly irritated, reportedly yelled, “What are you doing, idiot?” at the Peruvian defender, as per TyC Sports.

Mac Allister’s Status for Liverpool’s Upcoming Match

Thankfully for Liverpool fans, Mac Allister appears to have avoided any lasting damage from Zambrano’s reckless tackle during Argentina’s World Cup qualifier.

The midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Brighton, is expected to return to Merseyside in good health after completing his international duties.

However, the club faces a tight schedule and another taxing transatlantic journey for Mac Allister. This could lead to him being rested for Sunday’s match against Southampton to manage his fitness.

Adding to this, the 25-year-old is just one yellow card away from suspension in the Premier League. If booked at St Mary’s, he would miss Liverpool’s crucial fixture against Manchester City the following week—something that could influence the coaching staff’s decision regarding his inclusion.

For now, Liverpool supporters will hope Mac Allister returns to club action free from any lingering concerns after his

time with Argentina.
