Manchester United are reportedly targeting a Barcelona defender amid growing speculation about Marcus Rashford’s potential departure from Old Trafford.

Rashford recently sparked uncertainty over his future in an interview with prominent journalist Henry Winter. When asked about his plans, the 27-year-old forward stated, “I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Since making this comment, Rashford has been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League, Major League Soccer (MLS), and various European clubs. Reports have now emerged suggesting that Barcelona is interested in signing the English forward as the January transfer window intensifies.

In response, Manchester United are said to have expressed interest in Barcelona’s center-back Ronald Araujo. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Araujo, who has been associated with a potential move to Juventus, is valued between €45 million and €50 million.

The situation has led to speculation that the two clubs could negotiate a swap deal involving Rashford and Araujo. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick recently praised Araujo, describing him as “one of the best defenders” and reaffirming his availability for selection despite ongoing rumors.

Meanwhile, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Rashford’s situation, noting that no negotiations are currently underway with clubs like AS Monaco, despite earlier links. However, Rashford’s representatives have reportedly held discussions with Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim also commented on Rashford’s status, stating, “At the moment, he is ill and not training. We will see what happens in the future.”

The transfer saga surrounding Rashford and Araujo continues to unfold, with both clubs possibly exploring opportunities to finalize a deal in the

weeks ahead.
