Darwin Núñez is facing backlash after his shared deleted message on his Instagram after facing hateful comments from some Liverpool fans. 🚨 This is truly disheartening—he needs all the support he can get! 🙏❤️

While Liverpool edges closer to clinching the Premier League title, not every player seems to be in high spirits — particularly Darwin Núñez.

For the second time, the Uruguayan striker has vented his frustrations on social media, only to quickly delete the post — but not before many fans managed to take screenshots.

Early Saturday, Núñez posted a message in Spanish, which roughly translates to: “No wonder I haven’t been starting more often. I played well the last time I started in the Premier League, and then suddenly…”

The post appears to allude to speculation from Portuguese media, which claims Liverpool would owe Benfica an extra €5 million once Núñez reaches 50 Premier League starts — and he currently sits at 49.

During his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tottenham game, Liverpool boss Arne Slot responded to the rumors, advising: “You shouldn’t believe everything written in the press. Sometimes it’s true, but other times it’s pure speculation.”

Despite Slot’s reassurance, Núñez’s comments suggest he feels his reduced game time might be influenced by financial clauses rather than footballing reasons.

Núñez’s Growing Frustration at Liverpool

Núñez’s last start came against Southampton, where he found the back of the net during a 3-1 victory. However, he was benched for subsequent crucial matches, including the Champions League clash with PSG and the Carabao Cup final.

Slot has maintained that his team selections are based solely on sporting decisions, with no directives from above regarding player contracts or bonuses.

Still, Núñez’s deleted Instagram post could be perceived as casting doubt on his manager’s integrity, potentially creating further tension within the squad.

It’s a surprising move from a player on the cusp of a major trophy, and it raises even more questions about whether Núñez will remain at Anfield after this season.
