Premier League Update: Amorim Hails Manchester United Star After Bournemouth Clash

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has shared his admiration for one of his players following their recent Premier League draw with Bournemouth.

The match, hosted at the Vitality Stadium, saw Bournemouth start strong, taking the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to Antoine Semenyo’s precise finish past United keeper Andre Onana.

Despite holding that 1-0 lead into halftime, Bournemouth’s momentum was disrupted in the second half. A red card for Evanilson in the 70th minute left them a man down, and United seized the opportunity. Rasmus Hojlund netted a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time to rescue a point for the Red Devils.

The 1-1 draw extends United’s winless run to five league games, leaving them in 14th place with only four matches left. A finish outside the top ten looks increasingly likely, marking a disappointing domestic campaign.

Amid the frustrations, Amorim singled out Luke Shaw for praise. Making his first start in months after injury, Shaw slotted into a three-man defense and impressed with his attacking support and precision passing.

“He was vital, especially after they went down to ten men,” Amorim told BBC Match of the Day. “We have to manage his fitness, but his quality in the final third and his vision really stood out.”

As United turn their focus to the Europa League, Amorim stressed that the Bournemouth result won’t distract them. They’ll face Athletic Club in Bilbao for the first leg of the semi-finals, having previously knocked out Lyon in the quarter-finals.

While the draw highlights United’s ongoing league troubles, the performances of players like Shaw and Hojlund offer hope as they aim to finish the season with a strong European run.
