“I’m eager to have him but He’s not staying’ – Real Madrid Manager Xabi Alonso confirms future of Real Madrid star and transfer plans before deadline

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has put an end to the speculation surrounding Dani Ceballos’ future by confirming that the 29-year-old midfielder will be remaining at the club. This development comes after a tumultuous week that saw Ceballos reportedly agree to a deal with Olympique Marseille, only to have the French giants pull the plug on the transfer after Ceballos requested more time to make a final decision.
Despite being linked with a potential return to his former club Real Betis, Alonso made it clear that Ceballos will not be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. During his press conference on Friday ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with RCD Mallorca, Alonso stated, “I spoke with him, and the decision was made that he’s staying. My opinion doesn’t change anything. He’s staying; he’s just another member of the squad. And I’m happy with him.”
While Alonso expressed his satisfaction with Ceballos, he declined to elaborate on whether the player had been promised a bigger role in the team. “The details, it’s better he tells you. But the decision seems final. He still plays the same role as before, and it doesn’t change my opinion of him.”
In addition to confirming Ceballos’ status, Alonso also addressed the possibility of Real Madrid making any further signings before the transfer deadline on Monday. He indicated that it’s unlikely the club will make any major moves, stating, “It’s likely [that we’re done], but I don’t want to get caught out. We always want to be vigilant, let’s wait. But it looks like it.”
Alonso also took the opportunity to praise other members of his squad, including Fede Valverde, who has been instrumental in the team’s success. “Very well, he’s been instrumental, leading the way. The first contact, at the World Cup, was good, and it continues to be so. He can adapt to any style of play, and that’s a blessing. I’m very happy with him.”
Another player who has been on Alonso’s radar is Eduardo Camavinga, who is expected to return after the international break. Despite being uncertain about Camavinga’s role in the side, Alonso expressed his eagerness to have him back, citing his qualities as a modern footballer. “I’m eager to have him, because I’ve had him around, but not continuously. That’s what I want. He’ll contribute a lot, because he has many qualities as a modern footballer. He’s dynamic, has quality. He fits in with what we want to do and will have his place.”
Alonso also highlighted Camavinga’s positive impact on the team’s dynamics, saying, “In addition to being someone very well-liked by his teammates, within the dressing room, he creates a lot of cohesion among the different players. That’s also important.”
With Ceballos staying and other midfielders vying for positions, Alonso’s comments suggest that the team is shaping up to be a competitive and dynamic unit. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Alonso navigates the challenges ahead and utilizes the talents of his squad to achieve success.
