Liam Rosenior has asked Chelsea to sign Crystal Palace Captain Marc Guéhi as he drop 4 man list of players he needs at the club

Football Insider reports that Chelsea have identified Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as a transfer target.

The club is searching for a top-tier central defender capable of immediately becoming a regular starter.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Guehi occurs as multiple elite clubs compete for his signature before his Palace deal runs out next June.

The England defender has attracted interest from several major clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

Guehi prefers to remain at Palace through the current campaign before moving to a new team without a transfer fee in the summer.

As a free agent, he’ll receive numerous proposals and can secure both a substantial signing bonus and lucrative wages.

Given their resources and determination, Chelsea could outbid other suitors for the London-based defender, who nearly completed a deadline-day switch to Liverpool in September.

Chelsea’s defensive struggles continue

Chelsea’s backline issues have plagued them throughout the season. While Levi Colwill brought stability last year, a training ground knee injury has sidelined him for much of this campaign.

These problems were evident in Saturday’s loss to Aston Villa, where Benoit Badiashile’s error contributed to Ollie Watkins opening the scoring.

The French defender filled in for Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana, though all three have failed to deliver steady defensive performances this season.

A departure from the current defenders might facilitate a new signing at Stamford Bridge, with Guehi emerging as the primary target.

The 25-year-old, who joined Chelsea’s youth system at age six, transferred to Palace in 2021 for approximately £20million.

Guehi’s choice will be crucial

Next summer, Guehi will have numerous European clubs pursuing him. Liverpool showed serious interest previously with advanced negotiations, but whether competing offers will sway him remains unclear.

Liverpool have struggled this season following their May Premier League triumph, and uncertainty surrounding Arne Slot’s tenure could influence any final decision.
