‘He informed me he would like to join Arsenal over Chelsea.’ Enzo Fernandez has confirmed that his £100 million International teammate wants to leave his club in January because he no longer enjoys playing for his current Club

Barcelona have apparently determined their strategic direction heading into the upcoming summer transfer window as they work to identify their key priorities. While initial expectations suggested the Catalan club would focus their attention on strengthening their defensive options, it now appears that the bulk of their available transfer budget will instead be channeled toward securing a new striker.

The seemingly unavoidable exit of Robert Lewandowski when summer arrives means Barcelona will find themselves with only Ferran Torres as a reliable option to fill the center-forward role for the following campaign. Complicating matters further, Torres himself has just 18 months remaining on his current contract. According to both Sport and Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s main priority during the summer will be bringing in an experienced, proven striker rather than investing in a developmental prospect.

Recent speculation has indicated that the Blaugrana have opened discussions with Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract expires in the summer making him available on a free transfer. However, it remains uncertain whether the Serbian international is being considered as a primary target, particularly given his difficult and inconsistent performances during his time at Juventus over recent seasons. Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong has also emerged on Barcelona’s shortlist, though he would seem to represent more of a long-term project given that he only made his La Liga debut in 2025.

Barcelona will make Julian Alvarez their top priority if they achieve 1:1 financial compliance

One name that continues to surface repeatedly in connection with Barcelona is Julian Alvarez. Sporting Director Deco is specifically seeking a striker who possesses the ability to contribute to build-up play and link with teammates while also maintaining a natural instinct for finding the back of the net—qualities that Alvarez demonstrates in abundance. Sport reports that should Barcelona successfully navigate their way back into compliance with the 1:1 salary limit regulations, they will immediately pursue Alvarez as their number one transfer target for the position.
