“Honestly, for me, the search is over. Liam Rosenior knows this club, he knows the players, and most importantly, he knows how to win these massive games. He’s a top coach and you can see the belief he has brought back in just two weeks. In my eyes, he is the man for the job permanently”, Enzo Fernandez drops a bombshell as he publicly backs Liam Rosenior to lead Chelsea long-term

In his press conference following the match, Liam Rosenior’s remarks were revealing about his standards. Despite winning four out of five games since taking over as Chelsea manager, he expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s play during the closing stages against Crystal Palace.

Although Chelsea held a commanding three-goal advantage at Selhurst Park with just two minutes left in regulation, defensive lapses on a set piece enabled Palace to score a late goal. While this didn’t affect the outcome—Chelsea had already secured victory with strikes from Estevao Willian, Joao Pedro, and Enzo Fernandez—Rosenior’s pursuit of excellence was evident.

Naturally, achieving perfection isn’t realistic at this early stage. The squad is still adjusting to Rosenior’s philosophy and methods. However, there’s clear worry from the manager regarding his team’s vulnerability on set pieces.

Rosenior commented that complacency would be a mistake and emphasized the need for rapid improvements. While he questioned whether there was a foul in the buildup to Palace’s goal, he acknowledged it represented yet another concession from a set piece situation. He was dissatisfied with the team’s performance in the final minutes, believing they should have maintained their dominance instead.

While these issues require attention, Rosenior’s tenure has shown encouraging signs overall. Sunday’s match represented Chelsea’s finest display under his leadership since he succeeded Enzo Maresca earlier in the month.

The teenage sensation Estevao was instrumental in Chelsea’s impressive showing. The 18-year-old delivered a brilliant performance, finishing his goal with remarkable composure—maintaining his nerve after a lengthy run covering nearly half the field before beating Dean Henderson. Despite having considerable time to consider his options, which can cause some players to second-guess themselves, Estevao remained unfazed.

Speaking about Estevao, Rosenior praised his exceptional skills and natural ability, noting that despite battling illness, the youngster has consistently impressed whenever he’s been on the field under his management.
