Manchester United is close to completing their first signing of the summer transfer window by agreeing on a deal for Joshua Zirkzee. Reports from Italy indicate that United has agreed to a ยฃ48 million transfer fee to bring the Dutch forward from Bologna to Old Trafford.
Calcio Mercato states that the 23-year-old’s release clause is set at โฌ40 million, but United will pay around โฌ46 million in total, distributed over three years. Bayern Munich, Zirkzeeโs former club, will receive part of the initial โฌ40 million, while Bologna will keep the remaining โฌ6 million.
Although AC Milan showed strong interest in Zirkzee, they were unwilling to pay the agent’s commission necessary to complete the deal. Manchester United, however, has agreed to pay approximately โฌ11 million in commissions, a portion of which will go to Zirkzeeโs family, making the total cost of the deal โฌ57 million, or ยฃ48 million.
Zirkzee, who was part of the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024, is set to undergo a medical examination today. Last season, Manchester United struggled to match the goal-scoring tally of other top Premier League teams, except Crystal Palace.
