“They wanted to play with my head. Real Madrid was my dream club but what they said to me broke my heart. But when I first met Manchester United board, I forgot about Real Madrid”- Manchester United new signing Leny Yoro has finally revealed why he ditched Real Madrid for Manchester even when he wanted wait to join Madrid till next season as a free agent

Rio Ferdinand’s recent social media activity regarding Manchester United’s possible signing of Leny Yoro has generated significant buzz among fans and analysts. According to The Athletic, Yoro is currently heading to the UK for medical tests and to finalize his contract with United. Negotiations between Lille and United seem to have concluded with an initial transfer fee of around £52 million.

Initially interested in a move to Real Madrid, Yoro has now shown a keen interest in joining United, especially given his contract with Lille only has a year left. Lille’s desire to secure a transfer fee now, rather than risk losing him for free next year, has accelerated the discussions.

Although the deal isn’t finalized yet, former United defender Rio Ferdinand fueled speculation with a cryptic tweet. He retweeted Fabrizio Romano’s update on the transfer, adding an eyes emoji followed by a wink emoji. This enigmatic post has sparked a wave of reactions and theories among fans.

Fans reacted enthusiastically to Ferdinand’s tweet, sharing various emotions and expectations about Yoro’s potential impact at United:

– Some humorously urged Ferdinand to disclose insider information.

– Others compared Yoro to legendary United defensive duos like Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

– Many expressed their excitement about Yoro potentially mirroring the success of past great defenders at Old Trafford.

Yoro, who emerged from Lille’s youth academy, broke into the first team in May 2022. Last season, he played a significant role, featuring in 44 matches as Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1, demonstrating his talent and promise on the European stage.

Additionally, Manchester United has been linked with Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. The 24-year-old defender, interested in moving to Old Trafford, has had positive discussions with Bayern. De Ligt previously worked with United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, during their successful time at Ajax, where they won the Eredivisie title and reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

United’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements follows Raphael Varane’s departure after his contract expired. United is eager to fill the gap left by Varane and bolster their defensive options for the upcoming season.
