The Uruguayan midfielder joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain for an initial fee of €50 million (£42.3 million/$55 million), with an additional €10 million (£8.5 million/$11 million) potentially payable in performance-related add-ons. Upon his arrival, Ugarte was warmly received by manager Erik ten Hag, who arranged a photo session against a backdrop emblazoned with the phrase ‘United & Fight.’
