Amad DIALLO begs Erik Ten Hag new signing to accept new role in Manchester United, says he improves the squad performance in that role Amad DIALLO has praised one united signing for his good performance yesterday and hope he plays that role in Manchester United, and fans are all saying the same thing
Erik ten Hag’s transfer strategy was on full display during Manchester United’s match against Southampton, where 80% of the starting defense, including the goalkeeper, were former Ajax players. One of them saved a penalty, another scored, and Lisandro Martinez delivered an outstanding performance. Despite the criticism Ten Hag has faced, this match highlighted the effectiveness of his transfer approach.
Ten Hag has emphasized that while many of his signings previously played under him, it isn’t a deliberate pattern. In August, he clarified, “These are club decisions, none of them are solely mine… financial considerations also come into play.” Nevertheless, this trend persisted with players like Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. There is debate, however, about whether Antony, another ex-Ajax player, would have fit the financial criteria.
The £85 million signing of Antony has frustrated fans, as the Brazilian has managed only 11 goals and 5 assists across 83 matches. Despite being the second-most expensive player in United’s history, Antony has barely featured this season. His last appearance was a late substitution for Amad in the 90th minute against Brighton, just before Joao Pedro scored a stoppage-time winner. Ironically, Amad, the player he replaced, has been outperforming him.
Amad was United’s most dangerous player in the Southampton match, contributing to the team’s first three chances. After Andre Onana saved a penalty, De Ligt quickly followed with a goal. Amad also assisted Marcus Rashford’s goal and completed his first full 90 minutes for the senior team, signaling his potential for more game time moving forward.
Amad’s determination to step up this season has already seen him equal Antony’s Premier League goal tally from last season, putting pressure on Ten Hag to reconsider Antony’s place in the squad.
While Antony may have opportunities to regain his form, such as a potential start in the League Cup against Barnsley, he faces competition from rising star Alejandro Garnacho. Ten Hag’s limited use of Antony so far raises questions about the Brazilian’s future at the club.
