Manchester United is Set to Sign Barcelona Star Frenkie de Jong in a £80million move next summer

If they cannot agree a new deal with the Dutch midfielder, Barcelona will apparently soon be willing to selling Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong has long been associated with a move to Manchester United, which has not yet materialised; nevertheless, should his long-term future not be guaranteed, he might soon be leaving Barcelona next summer.

Set to expire in 2026, the Ajax academy graduate has two years left on his present contract; his employers are aggressively seeking to extend his stay. Spanish site SPORT has stated De Jong has not responded to Barcelona’s extension offer; should he reject this offer, they will try to transfer him in June.

Another player United has been heavily associated with, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, is in a similar scenario as has “not accepted” the conditions on offer and is likewise scheduled to depart the club in 2026.

Right now, Barcelona’s top focus is on the midfield pair o Pedri and Gavi, both of whom are “totally willing to continue” at the club and may thus wind up pushing De Jong out the door should he decide not to commit.

United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have been “tempting” the Netherlands international, who was probed about his future throughout the summer among buzz of Erik ten Hag once again wanting to reconcile with his former player.

“Waiting at Barca? Indeed, De Jong added, he is quite content in Barcelona with his family. “Hansi Flick expects me to be vital. I converse with him. It was excellent.

Approaching this subject, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said: “The last thing he would want would be to leave Barcelona.” He informed me more than once, saying he is happy here.

“We really enjoy him. Nobody worries me; if someone wants to leave, we cannot defy a player’s desire. But I think everyone wants to stay and we want everyone we have to stay. Since no team in past has been a flash in the pan, we do not want any of them to depart.
