Cole Palmer “made him look foolish” during their battle, according to Roy Keane, who made the statement in a recent interview this morning. Keane was very critical of a Manchester United player. He hasn’t even mentioned Rashford, Martinez, or Dalot, leaving fans surprised and puzzled about why these key players were left out of the conversation. 😳
Legendary Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane, now a pundit for Sky Sports, voiced his displeasure with United’s performance following their 1-1 draw with Enzo Maresca’s team, taking issue with several moments in the match.
Keane was particularly critical of Lisandro Martinez, arguing that the defender was fortunate to escape a red card for his challenge on Cole Palmer. He also did not hold back in criticizing Diogo Dalot for a subpar showing at Old Trafford.
When asked about the incident that could have seen Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side reduced to 10 men, Keane told Sky Sports: “He’s a lucky boy. Honestly.
“He won’t be pleased with Cole Palmer making him look foolish; it was a great bit of skill. But that tackle was nasty.
“He’s a lucky boy. He doesn’t catch him fully, it’s down the side of his leg. But if he’d been sent off, I wouldn’t have any complaints.”
Chelsea legend and fellow pundit Frank Lampard chimed in: “I’d say it’s a red card for intent. He made significant contact and knew he was late, deciding to leave a bit on him.”

Regarding Dalot’s ineffective performance, Keane commented: “You have to get through to these players. Hit the target—these are key opportunities.
“These are top-level players missing clear chances. Dalot missed one last week, and people keep telling me he’s a good player.
“Put the ball in the net and help keep your manager in the job for a few more weeks, at the very least.”

Reflecting on United’s overall display, Keane added: “[Incoming permanent manager] Ruben Amorim should have committed to a longer contract.
“There’s a long road ahead for this team. This is an average United side, and the statistics back that up.
“It’s the same story over and over—we don’t know what we’ll get from them; they’re inconsistent. Calling this United team ‘boring’ might be a bit harsh.
“Although the match became a bit more open at the end, it was still extremely disappointing—so flat. From a managerial perspective, this squad is far from where it needs to be.
“A truly disappointing performance. United are average in everything and don’t excel in any area. The lack of goals is unbelievable.”
