Former Man UTD Star Cristiano Ronaldo has made his feelings clear after Controversial Manchester United call by new manager Ruben Amiron after Erik Ten Hag chased him out of the Club
Legendary Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo has already made it plain how he feels about completing a contentious transfer, despite reports that he is in set to join Saudi Pro League rivals Al Hilal.
Between 2003 and 2009, the Portuguese striker spent his first six years at Old Trafford. In the summer of 2021, he briefly rejoined the team. In December 2022, just over a year later, he signed a contract with Al-Nassr, a Saudi club, that would last until 2025.
After a lengthy absence due to injury issues, league rivals Al Hilal reportedly want to transfer forward Neymar in January and want to replace him with Ronaldo, according to Spanish publication Sport. The Brazilian joined the Saudi Pro League from Paris Saint-Germain in August of last year, but he only played five games in his debut season due to an ACL injury.
Al Hilal and Ronaldo’s current team, Al-Nassr, have a long-standing rivalry in Riyadh. The two sides battled out a 1-1 draw at Al-Awwal Park in their most recent derby at the beginning of the month.
Given Al-Nassr’s past with Al Hilal, it would appear to be a surprising decision for the 39-year-old. However, Ronaldo has previously been on the verge of signing a contract with one of United’s fiercest rivals.
Ronaldo revealed how close he was to joining Manchester City and working with Pep Guardiola back in 2022, when he was still in his second stint at Old Trafford. But after speaking with Sir Alex Ferguson, the previous manager, he changed his mind.
“Well, to be honest, that was very close. In an interview with Piers Morgan for TalkTV two years ago, Ronaldo remarked, “I suppose they tried hard to get me. They spoke [about] it a lot, and [Manchester City manager Pep] Guardiola mentioned two weeks ago.” However, as you are aware, my past was with Manchester United. Your feelings and heart are what make the difference. And Sir Alex Ferguson, of course, too.
It was the key, I believe. Although it made a difference at the time, I can not claim that Manchester City was not near because I can not be loyal. I had a conversation with Ferguson. “It is not feasible for you to visit Manchester City,” he told me.
‘Okay, Boss,’ I reply. I made the choice, and it turned out to be wise.
