Ruben Amorim Revamps Manchester United’s Coaching Team to Realize His Vision

Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, has overhauled the club’s coaching staff, introducing new strategies and redefining roles since joining during the November international break. These updates highlight his commitment to rejuvenating the club and setting the stage for sustained success.

Amorim arrived with six trusted aides from Sporting CP, steering away from the setup left by former manager Erik ten Hag. Several key figures from Ten Hag’s regime, such as Ruud van Nistelrooy and goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, have been replaced. However, first-team coach Darren Fletcher, set-piece specialist Andreas Georgson, and assistant goalkeeping coach Craig Mawson have retained their positions, maintaining some continuity within the team.

Among the significant changes, Georgson’s role has shifted from handling set-piece strategies to focusing on communication with the fourth official, particularly on VAR-related matters. Responsibility for set-piece execution now lies with Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido, two of Amorim’s trusted recruits from Sporting. Both have quickly taken charge of tactical drills and set-piece coordination, implementing Amorim’s fresh tactical framework.

Amorim’s strategy is a blend of innovation and respect for tradition. By retaining figures like Fletcher, he ensures the team remains connected to Manchester United’s legacy while introducing his modern vision. Commenting on the challenges of this transformation, Amorim stressed the importance of patience, saying, “Building something meaningful takes time. While immediate results may be elusive, the groundwork being laid now is critical for future success.”

With his revamped coaching staff aligned to his philosophy, Amorim aspires to revive Manchester United’s dominance in both domestic and European football. His decisive moves have sparked optimism among fans eager for a unified and competit

ive team.
