Manchester City Star Kevin De Bruyne is set to join Chelsea next season on a free transfer, how did the manage to land this deal

Kevin De Bruyne’s impressive career has made Chelsea regret letting him go in 2014. Despite only playing nine times for the Blues during the 2012-2013 season, De Bruyne has gone on to become one of Manchester City’s most decorated players.

After being loaned to Werder Bremen in 2012, where he scored and assisted 20 times in 36 matches, De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg in 2014 for £18m. He excelled at the German club, winning the German Cup and Super Cup, and was named 2015 Bundesliga Player of the Year.

De Bruyne’s move to Manchester City in 2015 for £54.5m has been a resounding success, with six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy to his name. Former Chelsea player Ashley Cole believes De Bruyne’s experience and leadership qualities make him an attractive signing for the Blues.

Cole suggests that even if De Bruyne’s injury-prone, Chelsea could still benefit from his expertise, potentially limiting his playing time to 30 games per season. De Bruyne’s impressive stats, including 106 goals and 176 assists in 414 appearances, demonstrate his value as a player, and Cole thinks he could still be a valuable addition to Chelsea’s squad.
