Two Chelsea Star Now ‘Considering Leaving’ After Liam Rosenior’s Appointment and playing them in a wrong Position against Arsenal yesterday

Chelsea may face the departure of an important squad member this summer after he expressed dissatisfaction with Liam Rosenior’s managerial appointment.

The club dismissed Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day after tensions developed between the manager and senior leadership. Rosenior, who was leading Strasbourg—another club under BlueCo ownership—was brought in as his replacement.

Despite Chelsea’s difficulties during Maresca’s final period, the Italian remained well-liked by the players, having led them to victories in the Conference League and Club World Cup. Pedro Neto disclosed that the squad was surprised by the news, given that they were parting with a coach who had delivered trophies.

The decision to remove Maresca appears to be causing issues, with problems now emerging at the club. L’Equipe reports that Enzo Fernandez is dissatisfied following the Italian manager’s exit.

The French outlet indicates that Rosenior’s arrival has prompted Fernandez to reconsider his Chelsea future, as he shared a close working relationship with Maresca. Though Paris Saint-Germain has shown interest in the player, no January transfer is expected, with a potential summer move to the French capital being more likely.

Chelsea acquired Fernandez from Benfica for £107m in late January 2023, impressed by his World Cup displays. Given his importance to the team, any potential buyer would likely face a substantial price tag.

The 24-year-old’s contract, worth £180,000 weekly and extending to 2032, means Chelsea aren’t compelled to sell. Yet if Fernandez were to actively seek an exit, it could create squad unrest and further complicate matters for Rosenior.

**Fernandez’s Exit Would Significantly Impact Chelsea**

Though Fernandez may currently be unhappy under Rosenior’s early leadership, losing him would severely hurt the club. Beyond indicating problems with their long-term vision if he seeks to leave, the team would miss his significant contributions.

During Maresca’s sole complete campaign, only Cole Palmer (23) and Nicolas Jackson (15) recorded more combined goals and assists than Fernandez, who tallied six goals and seven assists in an advanced midfield position. This production has carried into 2025/26, with the Argentine currently sharing the team lead in scoring alongside Joao Pedro (six goals each).

As vice-captain under Reece James, his leadership void would be equally significant as his goal production. He merits top-level competition, so Chelsea and Rosenior must demonstrate they can provide that environment.
