Former Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard has been appointed as the manager of this Shocking European Top Club
Frank Lampard wants to relaunch his management career with Glasgow Rangers, who are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Michael Beale.
Following a poor start to the season, the 43-year-old was relieved of his duties as Rangers manager late on Sunday evening.
Before the axe fell on the Englishman, they were third in the Premiership, one point behind St Mirren and seven points behind city rivals Celtic.
A 7-3 aggregate loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League play-off round in August added to the pressure on Beale, whose summer rebuild has been largely panned, with a slew of new recruits failing to make an effect.
Lampard, however, was fired by Everton earlier this year before returning to Chelsea on an interim basis for the final 11 games of the Premier League giants’ catastrophic season.
Lampard is intrigued in the Rangers position, according to The Telegraph, but would require assurances about the ailing Scottish club’s future plans after walking into toxic situations at Goodison Park and Stamford Bridge.
Lampard indicated on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports earlier this week that he feels refreshed after his hiatus from the game and is examining his options.
‘I think it’s vital to try and find time away from the game to recharge a bit and appreciate things you don’t get the chance to do when you’re working,’ Lampard added.
‘There is a balance of feeling privileged to be working in the Premier League, the expectations are high from the outside, and any manager places demands on themselves.
‘It’s not always easy because you want to be the best you can be, but when you’re out of a work, that’s your time to step back, take a breather, and recognise family is the true positive of that side.’
Pascal Jansen of AZ Alkmaar is another candidate, as is Philippe Clement, who most recently coached Monaco before being fired in June.
Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat, who is now the manager of Japanese team Yokohama F Marinos, has also been connected with the job.
