Mason Greenwood has changed his nationality today and now he will play for one of the biggest national teams
Mason Greenwood might relaunch his international career with Jamaica.
Although Mason Greenwood has not yet made an appearance for Jamaica in international competition, he is still eligible to switch his allegiance from England.
More than 18 months after his initial arrest and subsequent allegations of attempted rape, engaging in controlling behavior, and assault, Greenwood’s club future has gotten a little clearer following Manchester United’s decision to end connections with the 21-year-old this week.
After key witnesses withdrew and “new material that came to light,” the Crown Prosecution Service determined in February 2023 that there was no longer a reasonable possibility of conviction. Greenwood was not absolved of the alleged offenses, while not having been proven guilty of them in a court of law, as he misrepresented in a statement this week.
Manchester United determined to support Greenwood in moving on with his career elsewhere following a six-month internal evaluation. The teams who have so far showed interest are more interested in a loan, even though a permanent transfer is preferred.
This week, 90min reported that Roma, which would mean a reunion with Jose Mourinho, is one team said to be willing to grant Greenwood an opportunity to launch his career. The player has already discussed a loan with Atalanta, Inter, Monaco, and teams in Germany, Turkey, and Spain, among others. The Saudi Pro League is still monitoring the circumstance.
For a player who played 135 first-team club games at the age of 20 before having his career cut short, Greenwood has hardly any senior international experience to speak about.
In September 2020, he made his England debut against Iceland in a UEFA Nations League match; however, two days later, he and Phil Foden violated Covid-19 quarantine restrictions in the team hotel before traveling to Denmark, leading to their dishonorable deportation from the nation.
The Daily Mail claims that when England manager Gareth Southgate met with Greenwood, the player’s family, and representatives from Manchester United in the fall of 2021, he was prepared to put the Iceland incident behind him. Young players frequently receive a second opportunity under Southgate as long as they have “good intentions.” Greenwood reportedly received advice at the conference on how to rejoin the England squad as a player rather than a starter.

Before, once a player made an appearance in a senior international match that was competitive, they were locked in for that nation. Greenwood was 18 years old when he made his sole appearance for England.
