Manchester City last 16 opponent has been named this morning by Pep Guardiola, this is no GOODNEWS for Us for the are the most difficult team to win
Manchester City now knows who they might face in the Champions League knockout rounds, with the last-16 draw taking place on Monday morning.
The triple winners won 3-2 over Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday night, with goals from Micah Hamilton, Oscar Bobb, and England’s Kalvin Phillips settling the scores. As group champions, City had already secured their place in the draw.
However, there were still a few slots up for grabs in the other matches that took place on Wednesday night, but those remaining concerns have already been resolved. PSG and Inter Milan, whom City defeated in the final last season, are two prospective opponents.
“If you talk about qualification, then it’s a great night,” City manager Pep Guardiola remarked before the Crvena Zvezda triumph, after defeating RB Leipzig the previous time. We arrived in February and were first in our group.
“I don’t know who we will face, but the second leg will be here.”
Indeed, whatever the holders face in the second leg, they will have home advantage. The draw will take place at 11 a.m. GMT on Monday, with the last-16 matches taking place in February.
The confirmed runners-up heading into the action on Wednesday night were FC Copenhagen, PSV Eindhoven, Napoli, Inter Milan, and RB Leipzig, who cannot be drawn against City because they were in the same group. Lazio, PSG, and FC Porto followed, all of which might potentially meet City.
FC Copenhagen (Group A) might be City’s prospective last-16 opponent.
Eindhoven PSV (Group B)
Napoli is in Group C.
Inter Milan (Division D)
Lazio (E Group)
Group F: Paris Saint-Germain
FC Porto (H Group)
