Liverpool is allegedly poised to shatter the UK’s transfer record in their quest for Mohamed Salah’s successor, as per recent reports.

Rumors from Spanish outlet Sport indicate that Liverpool has its sights set on Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. as a potential replacement for Salah, should he depart Anfield.

In competition with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool is reportedly willing to offer a hefty sum of £171 million to secure the talents of the Brazilian winger.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid is purportedly eager to extend Vinicius’ contract for another five years, signaling their intent to retain him. Vinicius Jr. has enjoyed a stellar season, tallying 18 goals and 8 assists in 28 appearances for Real Madrid.

Despite Liverpool’s keen interest, Real Madrid seems hesitant to part ways with Vinicius. The potential exit of Salah presents a significant concern for Liverpool, particularly after turning down a £150 million bid from Al Ittihad last summer.

With Salah’s contract set to expire in 2025 and uncertainties surrounding Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, speculations abound regarding Salah seeking a new challenge in the upcoming transfer window.

Reportedly, Liverpool’s sporting director, Michael Edwards, is prioritizing contract extensions for key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, if negotiations with Salah falter, Liverpool may opt to sell him rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Amidst the transfer rumors, Salah continues to dazzle for Liverpool, boasting 22 goals and 13 assists in 34 appearances this season, upholding his exceptional record since joining the club.
