“You have no respect for Ronaldo”, “Shameless club” – Fans blast Manchester United for Lionel Messi tribute post after win against Ecuador.

Fans criticized Manchester United for their lack of support for Cristiano Ronaldo when the club shared an article featuring Alejandro Garnacho’s tribute to Lionel Messi.

In 345 appearances across competitions during his two stays at Old Trafford, Ronaldo scored 145 goals and provided 64 assists. The Portuguese player developed into one of the best in the game during his first stint in the 2000s, winning three Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, and a Ballon d’Or.

Prior to leaving by mutual consent in November of last year, his second term wasn’t as successful as he went trophyless.

He is still a true club legend, though.Meanwhile, in Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying opener against Ecuador on Thursday (September 7), his arch-rival Lionel Messi had a standout performance.

His winning free kick in the 78th minute tied him for fourth place overall with another United icon, David Beckham (65).The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or also tied leading scorer Luis Suarez with his 29th goal in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying. Alejandro Garnacho’s homage and a photo of Messi were posted by United to mark the occasion.

“You have no respect for Ronaldo.”
Another simply commented:
“Shameless

Another comment stated:
“Whoever runs this account should be ashamed of themselves.”
