“I can’t continue to be on a bench for Six Straight game and I haven’t getting a chance to play, Pep Guardiola keeps saying he’s preserving me for Big games when I can’t even start against LIVERPOOL- Fabrizio Romano says 27-year-old Man City player is ‘going to leave’ in January

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a 99% likelihood that Kalvin Phillips will leave Manchester City during the forthcoming January transfer window.

During the previous summer transfer window, the midfielder was linked with a move to Newcastle United, but ended up staying at the Etihad Stadium in the goal of competing for a place in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

However, when Phillips stated that he could leave Manchester City in January in order to gain more playing time, Romano has revealed some behind-the-scenes information about the situation.

Phillips is expected to leave City in January, according to Romano.

When asked if a January deal to Newcastle is getting closer, Romano had this to say about Phillips during a recent livestream on his Kick channel.

“It’s not about getting closer,” he explained, “but it’s a name they’re thinking about.” Kalvin Phillips will depart Manchester City in January; this is the deal’s definite path, and it is 99% certain.

He wants to play, which is why, in addition to the Euros, the player is looking at options in Europe, particularly in England, in order to adapt quickly to the new club, and Newcastle might be a possibility.”

The Citizens signed the Englishman from Leeds United in the summer transfer window of 2022 for £45 million.

Since then, the 27-year-old has made only 29 appearances in all competitions for the club, starting only five of them.

With that in mind, it’s evident that Phillips has failed to establish himself as a regular member of City’s squad, which is why Romano believes he could be on his way out in January to try to find regular minutes elsewhere.

Moving forward, if a good offer for Phillips comes their way once the winter transfer window opens, it will be intriguing to watch if the Manchester club then dips into the market to bring in a replacement for the Englishman.
