Chelsea is in internal negotiations about signing the Premier League captain.
Max Kilman, the captain of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has surfaced as a Chelsea target.
Well-known journalist Simon Phillips says as much.
The 26-year-old Max Kilman of Wolves has improved over the past few seasons to become a very reliable Premier League defender.
The English centre defender is now being linked to a possible transfer to Chelsea.
Interest in Chelsea
Kilman has already impressed Phillips, therefore he has claimed via his Substack on Tuesday that Chelsea does have a “firm interest” in signing him.
It’s known that Chelsea has held internal discussions on the 26-year-old Wolves player.
The club also values the player’s leadership and experience.
“I have been informed that the strong interest is still in Kilman for this winter/summer, and his name has been coming up in internal conversations once again,” wrote Phillips on Facebook.
A skilled CB named Max Kilman
To start with, we think the Wolves’ defence is fantastic.
With his 6′ 4″ stature, the left-footed centre back is an authoritative presence and a superb ball passer.
We don’t mind Chelsea pursuing and talking about this kind of profile; he is a Premier League ready-made piece about to enter their prime.
But Chelsea’s defensive isn’t the area on the pitch where they should be concentrating their efforts. Naturally, the most obvious goal should be to find a different striker to break the No. 9 curse.
Although the Blues have a number of excellent centre halves on their roster, head coach Mauricio Pochettino is constantly searching for the ideal combination.
Chelsea center-half Trevoh Chalobah is anticipated to depart the team in January, according to a report published by journalist Ryan Taylor this week on X. Even with him gone, the defence core of the team would still be highly competitive.
Kilman did execute a long-term contract at Molineux Stadium in the summer, so it will be interesting to see whether a prominent team is willing to take a chance on him.
