“You are playing me on the wrong Position and expecting me to Score and assist which is not possible- Angry Manchester City player has told Pep Guardiola to PLAY him in his original position
Bernardo Silva identifies the two positions at Manchester City that he finds particularly difficult.
Bernardo Silva is one of the world’s most flexible players, but he acknowledges there are a few positions he finds difficult to play.
Before heading to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup, the 29-year-old produced a video for the club’s official website.
‘Masterclass: Bernardo Silva’ is the title of the video, and it is an analysis of what the player offers to the Manchester City team, in his own words.
The Portuguese maestro is beloved by City fans for a variety of reasons, but his flexibility, work rate, and tactical knowledge are among his best traits.
Bernardo’s ability to play in a variety of positions sets him apart, but he admits that there are two roles in particular that he finds difficult.
Bernardo Silva discusses the two positions he finds the most difficult to play.
Bernardo is now more likely to play on the right wing, as a holding midfielder, or as a wandering number eight like Phil Foden.
In the video, the actor explains that these are the positions where he feels most at ease.
However, City fans will recall that Bernardo has appeared at left-back on a few occasions. Pep Guardiola kept him there for three games in a row last season, against Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest.
Bernardo stated (mancity.com) on this role: “He knows I will do everything to help the team in whatever position it is.” I’m not going to lie: it was difficult to play left-back, especially against (Bukayo) Saka, who is an incredible player. This one (points to left-back graphic) is particularly difficult!”
Bernardo has also occasionally played as a false nine, sometimes with Kevin De Bruyne and sometimes by himself.
“This role is likewise quite challenging. You must be more patient. I played a lot of games here as a false nine last season when we lost the Champions League final to Chelsea, and it’s difficult to play there.”
Bernardo continues to flourish.
It’s intriguing to hear him confess that certain positions are the most difficult to play.
Left-back is somewhat understandable given how demanding the position is these days. You must provide services in both defensive and offensive sectors. Bernardo had never played there before last season, but he did an excellent job.
Danny Murphy did declare last week that the City star was ‘one of the best examples you will see’ of an offensive player with defensive discipline, which could explain why Pep trusted him there.
The false nine role is another difficult one to master because you must know when to stay on top and when to go deep.
Despite Bernardo’s admission, Pep Guardiola would not hesitate to deploy Bernardo at left-back or up top again if necessary due to injury.
