Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated the reason why Moises Caicedo was not in today’s Chelsea Squad and Lineup

Additionally, the manager has made three changes to the team that upset Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, needing penalties.

The Blues appeared to line up in a 4-4-2 configuration with Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Armando Broja replacing Benoit Badiashile, Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez.

Although fans were aware of Fernandez’s absence, Caicedo’s failure to even make the bench has caused concern and generated questions about if another player has suffered an injury.

The club’s record-signing defensive midfielder participated in the entire 90 minutes of play against the Magpies, but according to sources, he did not make the trip to Molineux because of illness.

Before the game began, Pochettino gave his confirmation, stating: “Moises Caicedo is not involved today due to a high fever.”

Fernandez has also been ruled out due to illness, and Badiashile, who was benched against Wolves, is rumoured to have been dealing with a sickness.

When Chelsea hosts Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on December 27, supporters will be hopeful that Caicedo returns to full fitness in time.

“We have the option to play with Armando and Nicolas Jackson together today,” Pochettino continued, “and Malo Gusto comes in as a more offensive full-back, with Axel Disasi moving inside.”

“When we lose players, we look for the best solutions, and today, we’re looking for the right combinations while maintaining a good balance.”
