Erig Ten Hag has broke down in tears after Key Manchester United player who was supposed to be the main man against Manchester City has been injured in training this evening

Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes are anticipated to be ready for Manchester United’s match against Manchester City.

Although both players were listed as doubts for the FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest in the middle of the week, they both seem to have recovered. After their well-deserved triumph in the competition’s fifth round, Fernandes was seen hobbling out of the City Ground.

Although Varane has struggled with injuries all season, he seems to have forgotten about the earlier concerns about his availability for this weekend’s Manchester Derby. Harry Maguire, his defensive partner, is questionable nevertheless, having missed practice on Wednesday due to an undisclosed illness.

Speaking before of their title-chasing rivals’ meeting on Sunday, Erik ten Hag noted that despite early concerns, Fernandes and Varane both survived the FA Cup match unscathed. “They fought to be part [of it] and they performed well in the game,” he remarked.

“I believe they’ll be open on Sunday as well. We use the group from yesterday since I don’t think any of the other players will be back for Sunday.”

Rasmus Hojlund had a muscular ailment that may have kept him out for three weeks, so he will miss the crucial match against Pep Guardiola’s team. The striker, who has scored seven goals in six games since arriving at Old Trafford, is experiencing his best scoring run of the season at the worst possible time.

Due to injuries to Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ten Hag will be without four defensive options. Two more long-term absentees are Anthony Martial and Mason Mount. The former Chelsea midfielder had a challenging season on his debut at Old Trafford, and United’s manager has previously stated that he won’t be pushed back to prevent more setbacks.

The former Ajax manager said, “He was having trouble from the second game of the season.” After a little period of recovery, he sustained another injury, which is obviously not good.

“I truly feel bad for him because I know how frustrating that is for him. Because both he and I had high aspirations, I truly want to be there for him.”
