Wayne Rooney has tonight confirmed that he will join Premier League giants as their new manager! Welcome back to the Premier League πŸ‘πŸ‘

Wayne Rooney recently reiterated his determination to embark on a managerial journey, identifying Manchester United as his ultimate goal, despite facing setbacks in his coaching career, notably his abrupt departure from Birmingham City.

Rooney, known for his goal-scoring prowess at Manchester United, transitioned into coaching after retiring from playing, initially taking on a player-coach role at Derby County.

Despite his short-lived stint at Birmingham City and subsequent return to D.C. United, Rooney remains resolute in his ambition to succeed as a manager.

At 38, Rooney believes he still has time to achieve his managerial dreams, expressing confidence in securing another coaching position and eventually reaching the top of football management.

Speaking on BBC One, Rooney discussed his aspirations of managing in the Premier League, with Manchester United and Everton as his desired destinations.

Acknowledging the challenges faced at Birmingham City, where his tenure lasted only 83 days, Rooney emphasized his resilience in the face of adversity.

Despite setbacks, Rooney remains undeterred, determined to overcome obstacles and pursue his managerial ambitions fervently.

With determination and resilience, Rooney aims to navigate the managerial landscape, aspiring to secure top positions in English football within the next decade.

After financial struggles at Derby County and failing to lead D.C. United to the MLS postseason, Rooney’s appointment at Birmingham came unexpectedly following John Eustace’s dismissal.

Despite Birmingham’s initial success in the Championship play-off places, Rooney’s tenure saw few victories, leading to a downward spiral towards relegation before his dismissal.

Few of Rooney’s former Manchester United teammates have pursued coaching careers, with Michael Carrick being an exception, earning praise for his coaching work at Middlesbrough.

However, others like Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Roy Keane, Wes Brown, and Owen Hargreaves have chosen punditry roles instead.

Interestingly, Robin van Persie is currently undertaking coaching courses and recently returned to Manchester United to observe training sessions as part of his UEFA Pro License course with the KNVB.
