SACKED LETTER: Eric Ten Hag and Andre ONANA issued a letter of dismissal immediately after the match against Manchester City yesterday, as the new manager is scheduled to be introduced the following day.

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Manchester United thanks to two goals from Phil Foden in the second half.

Erik ten Hag’s squad had taken an unexpected lead in the Manchester derby thanks to Marcus Rashford’s thunderous long shot, and United managed to hold onto the advantage until halftime thanks to Erling Haaland’s stunning miss from much closer range. But they were unable to hang on.

Before Foden’s low finish put City ahead, he found a great strike of his own. To more accurately represent his team’s superiority and put an end to United’s streak of 143 Premier League games without a loss when leading at halftime, Haaland finally struck the back of the net in stoppage time.

Ten Hag might cite a strategy that was effective for nearly an hour and a few close calls that went against his position, but City was a deserving winner. With this win, Pep Guardiola’s team has now gone 19 games without a loss and is just one point behind leaders Liverpool, whom they will face live on Sky Sports on Sunday at 3:45 p.m.
