Fans make same point about Cole Palmer after Raheem Sterling misses penalty against Leicester
Many Chelsea supporters on social media believe that Raheem Sterling ought to have enabled Cole Palmer to convert Chelsea’s first-half penalty in their FA Cup match against Leicester City.
In the 26th minute of Sunday’s quarterfinal, Abdul Fatawu pulled down Sterling in the area with a reckless challenge from behind, and it appeared as though Mauricio Pochettino’s team would double their lead.
Some fans were surprised when Sterling, who had a difficult game in the first half on Sunday, took the spot-kick, given Cole Palmer’s recent performance when he has attempted 12 yards.
Additionally, the England international failed miserably with a meek attempt as Jakub Stolarczyk correctly predicted.

Here are the reactions of admirers to the miss on social media.
Says one: “Sterling is missing the pen. Palmer should have handled that. What a pitiful punishment.”
Another said, “Utterly bizarre decision to give Sterling the penalty when Palmer is on the pitch.”
“How is Sterling taking the penalty when Palmer is on?” a third person commented. has squandered a great opportunity, stopped a shot from a teammate, and now thwarted Palmer’s attempt to make it 2-0. I would have absolutely no issues if I subtracted him now.”
“Another example of Chelsea’s lack of leadership/game management,” remarked a fourth. Why did Sterling get away with taking the penalty instead of Palmer?”
“WHY IS STERLING TAKING THAT PENALTY?” inquired a fifth. Cole takes the penalties.”
It has previously been disclosed by Mauricio Pochettino that Chelsea does not have a designated penalty taker.
He stated, “There are a few players who can take the penalty,” back in October following an argument between Palmer and Sterling on who should get the penalty during their match against Arsenal. It concerns their emotions.

“As a coaching staff we give them the responsibility to decide on the pitch.”
“This player is not going to be the only one in charge,” he continued. Cole was clearly prepared to accept the two penalties he took.
“If he is on the pitch, he will usually be it. However, if not, I would be content with Raheem and Nico (Jackson).
“Having the decision and the personality to go is what matters most to me.”
