Devastating Harry Maguire news has been confirmed this afternoon 😢 in international duties

Due to their individual ailments, Sam Johnstone of Crystal Palace, Harry Maguire of Manchester United, and Kyle Walker of Manchester City have all withdrawn from the England senior team, according to the FA.

Walker was replaced after just 20 minutes of Saturday night’s friendly match between England and Brazil at Wembley Stadium. Following the match, Gareth Southgate announced that the full-back would be evaluated in the “coming days.” The stalwart of England has now returned to Manchester City for the evaluation.

Maguire, an experienced defender as well, was substituted off in the 67th minute of the match due to injury. Despite dealing with an injury worry recently, the Man Utd centre defender was judged well enough to play against Brazil. Maguire, like Walker, has been sent back to his club to determine the nature of his latest illness.

Manager Southgate has chosen to call up Rico Lewis and James Trafford from the under-21 squad in their absence as well as Johnstone’s.

Trafford may make his senior squad debut on Tuesday when England plays Belgium at Wembley Stadium. Lewis has only made one appearance for the senior team, making his debut against North Macedonia in November.

Trafford has been out of favour at the club level lately and was benched by Burnley recently, but he has long had a consistent career at the underage level for England.

In addition to Maguire, Walker, and Johnstone being out, Southgate will also be without star forwards Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka, who both missed the loss to Brazil because of injuries.
