Mikel Arteta worries important Arsenal star could be suspended this season due to disciplinary issues ahead of Brighton Vs Arsenal tomorrow

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was taken aback by Kai Havertz’s eighth yellow card of the season during their recent triumph over Luton, which propelled them to the top of the Premier League table with an impressive 28 out of 30 points in 2024. Despite the victory, Havertz’s caution stirred discussion.

The Emirates Stadium clash witnessed Martin Odegaard’s opener, assisted by Havertz, followed by a Luton own goal from Daiki Hashioka. Havertz’s caution, his 11th this season, raised concerns as it brought him nearer to a two-match suspension threshold. With upcoming matches against Brighton and Aston Villa, two more yellow cards would mean suspension.

In the post-match conference, Arteta stressed caution and the potential repercussions of further bookings. He acknowledged the need to avoid additional cautions, particularly with the looming suspension threat. Arteta expressed surprise at Havertz’s disciplinary record, given his crucial role in the team. He emphasized addressing the issue to maintain disciplinary standards and avoid disruptions from suspensions.

Despite his disciplinary worries, Havertz has been pivotal in Arsenal’s recent successes, providing vital goals and assists. While attention remains on Arsenal’s title ambitions, Arteta highlighted the importance of consistency and quality ahead of their clash with Brighton. “For sure, that means that we are there, that we are really close,” he added.
