Former Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane is set to become the manager of this Premier League club
A recent rumor claims that Zinedine Zidane is “one step away” from making an unexpected comeback to football management.
Following his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has not been in managerial positions.
The 51-year-old had two distinct stints with Los Blancos, but he hasn’t led another side in his career despite being connected to several other teams, such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain.
All of that could be about to change, as Zidane is reportedly close to taking over as Bayern Munich manager from Thomas Tuchel, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
After a poor domestic season, Tuchel will step down as Bayern’s manager at the conclusion of the current campaign. However, it’s possible that the former Chelsea manager could depart the team having won the Champions League twice in his career.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Zidane has requested guarantees in the transfer market and has not yet signed a contract because of “missing specifics.”
World of Sports
In recent months, Zidane has been strongly associated with taking Erik ten Hag’s place at Manchester United.
Former international teammate Emmanuel Petit claims that the Real Madrid star has been studying English, and there have been rumors that he may succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Therefore, it seems like Bayern’s interest came out of nowhere. According to sources, the Bavarians were in negotiations to secure a three-year deal with Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of the current Germany national team.
The news that Nagelsmann had signed a new deal with Germany until the 2026 World Cup dashed any hopes of his playing at the Allianz Arena again, which came little over a year after the club fired him.
Before helping Bayer Leverkusen win their first Bundesliga championship, the legendary player from Liverpool officially declared that he would stay with the team. Bayern was also eager to hire their former star, Xabi Alonso.
