Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed this morning that he will be leaving Ethihad to join this shocking European giant

This week, reports in Germany hinted that Bayern Munich would turn to their previous manager, Pep Guardiola, in their quest to replace Thomas Tuchel.

Following the decision to break ways with Tuchel at the conclusion of the season, Bayern have seen interest in Xabi Alonso decline, and connections to Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, become less credible with each loss he oversees at Old Trafford. As a result, a rumor appeared in Kicker on Monday indicating that Guardiola’s employer, Bayern Munich, may be interested in rehiring him this summer. However, the same source also acknowledged that the manager does not currently have any plans to leave Manchester City.

Guardiola will have been with City for nine years when his contract expires in the summer of 2025. He has previously stated that he plans to honor the contracts he signs and won’t leave a club before their expiration unless circumstances force him to do otherwise.

Guardiola firmly stated, “I am not going from here seat,” during his first news conference following the charges’ announcement last year. He also made it apparent that City needed to be given the chance to clean their record in a separate context.

At the time, he declared he would stay in command even if League Two relegation was one of the possible penalties. He reaffirmed that position earlier this season when he stated that he would be more inclined to stay at City should they be relegated from the top division than should they repeat as Champions League winners.

“You ask questions as though we’ve received punishment. And until our guilt is established, we are innocent right now,” he stated. “I am aware that many desire it. After the phrase has been completed, wait and observe it. We will then come here and explain it. However, I will not think about my future if it hinges on my presence here or in League One. Indeed.

“Being in League One gives us a better chance of staying than winning the Champions League. Why shouldn’t I think that anything has changed?

It is untrue since the judge, the court, the Premier League attorneys, and our attorneys ultimately present both sides’ cases for defense before the judge, who then makes the final decision. I didn’t think differently about it for a single second—give it some time, observe their decision, and then accept the outcome.”

After guiding City to a triple last season, Guardiola talked about his future and said that nothing had changed in terms of how he felt about it since the Blues and he had finally won the Champions League.

He also hinted at a possible extension into next summer, saying, “I signed a contract for another two years because I feel comfortable – and nothing has changed whether we won (the treble) or not.”

“I am delighted, and everyone is happy, especially the hierarchy and the board, who ultimately choose which manager will guide this team of players.

“I’m still satisfied if they’re satisfied. We will chat with the club at the conclusion of the season if I am exhausted, or we may extend further. I want to stand up for the victories we have had.

Manchester City defeats Nottingham Forest, with a goal by Josko Gvardiol.
As the season progressed, Guardiola made more insinuations about his intentions to remain, and as his contract enters its last year, more people will be curious about his position, especially as the Premier League decision draws near. “Soon” is how Premier League CEO Richard Masters described the decision, which may also have an effect on Guardiola’s contract negotiations.

Guardiola traveled to Abu Dhabi to present the three trophies to City owner Sheikh Mansour after the Blues won the triple. The Blues returned to Abu Dhabi in January for a training camp in the warm weather. He communicates often with CEO Ferran Soriano, Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain, and Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

It’s unclear if Guardiola would be willing to rejoin Bayern after leaving City, although Guaridola recently stated to ESPN Brazil that he would like to be the manager of an international side competing in a major competition.

“I would like to coach a national team competing in the European Championship or the World Cup. That seems good to me,” he remarked. “Who would desire me? I have no idea! Like a club, a national team must want you to work for them. I never considered [taking home the World Cup]. I had no intention of winning the Champions League or a league championship when I first started. No. I wondered if I had a job. Alright.

“I want to experience what it’s like to be in a World Cup, a Euro, a Copa América, or anything similar. That’s what I would want to have.”
