Former Manchester United Captain and Journalist Gary Neville has been appointed as the manager of Shocking European Club this evening
Prior to the general election that takes place next month, former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has secured a new position inside the Labour Party.
Since leaving the professional football league, Neville has gained much of his notoriety for his appearances as a commentator on Sky Sports. Currently, Neville is a part of ITV’s coverage of Euro 2024 in Germany. The former United States employee hasn’t avoided politics, though.
Neville criticized Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the host nation, Qatar, for their inadequate working conditions and low wages during the World Cup. In retaliation, the head of the Conservative Party advised the former United player to “stick to football.” This suggestion served as the inspiration for the moniker of the podcast he co-hosts with Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, and Jill Scott.
Neville is presently in Germany covering Euro 2024 for ITV, so this is another endeavor away from sport for him. On Wednesday, however, he was absent from our screens as Ian Wright, Karen Carney, and Danny Rohl covered the exciting Albania vs. Croatia encounter. The Labour Party made public a connection with the former England and United defender, who had previously made an appearance on Dragons Den, shortly after that match.
Although Neville has previously supported Labour by attending events hosted by the party, it appears that this will be his first appearance on a party political show on Wednesday night. The Labour Party announced to its supporters via Twitter that Neville will be joining its leader, Sir Keir Starmer.
Neville will be interviewing Starmer about his chances of becoming prime minister following July 4 and the path the Labour leader has taken to get there, in a manner reminiscent of the material he does with professional football players.
The interview will run on ITV at 6:25 p.m. and on BBC One at 7:25 p.m. owing to Germany vs. Hungary in Group A of the Euro 2024 competition.
