English club Have sacked thier big name manager after a poor end to last season
David Norris reports that 49ers Enterprises may have to fire manager Daniel Farke if Leeds United is not among the top three teams in the Championship by the end of October.
Last season, despite finishing third in the league, Farke was unable to lead the Whites back into the Premier League in their first try as they lost 1-0 to Southampton in the playoff final.
However, in 2024–2025, the German will have another go at it. However, this time, fans and club management alike will probably not offer the German much leeway when it comes to performance, with promotion to the first flight being the ultimate goal.
Farke has pressure to perform
Former Leeds midfielder Norris, who played 36 games and scored four goals for the team between 2012 and 2015, claims that Farke may lose his job if his team isn’t at least third in the standings by the end of October.
When asked how long he believes Farke may survive if Leeds had a bad start to 2024–2025, Norris said, “Not very,” to MOT Leeds News.
“After not going up last season, there will be pressure on them to go after automatic promotion,” Norris went on.
“I believe Leeds will make a change if they are not in the top three by the end of October; if they have a poor start, it may be sooner.
“The burden will undoubtedly be on him now, but they were right to remain with him and give it another shot.”
Wednesday’s announcement of the Championship schedule will reveal Leeds’ first opponents of the year. Prior to it, they play friendlies away at Valencia’s home field in Spain and Harrogate Town, neighbors in Yorkshire.
