The 2023/2024 season was challenging for United, with disappointing performances in both the Champions League and Premier League. They were eliminated early from European competition and finished eighth in the Premier League. However, winning the FA Cup against Manchester City significantly boosted ten Hagā€™s prospects of retaining his position.

Romano had earlier mentioned to GIVEMESPORT that ten Hag was pleased with a long-term vision in collaboration with INEOS, with the clubā€™s leadership viewing him as crucial to their future plans. Although the new deal might seem unexpected after a lackluster season, INEOS appears committed to maintaining continuity.
