Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Mohamed Salah’s status that should comfort Liverpool supporters.
Salah was strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League last summer, and there has been ongoing speculation about his future. However, interest from Saudi Arabia seems to have waned.
In his recent Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, Romano mentioned that the situation has become “quiet,” with no new offers or approaches from Saudi clubs.
Romano stated, “Despite the rumors, I have zero updates on Mo Salah’s situation so far. It’s quiet, there are no changes with Saudi clubs, and although the interest has been there since last summer, Liverpool have not received any proposals or approaches at the moment.”
With eight weeks left in the current transfer window and Salah entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, his future remains in flux.
A new £150 million offer from the Saudi Pro League, similar to last year’s, could persuade Liverpool to consider it due to Salah’s age and contract situation.
However, with Salah participating in Liverpool’s pre-season program rather than the Olympic Games, new manager Arne Slot likely wants to keep the club’s fifth-highest scorer of all time for at least the upcoming season.
At present, the situation has calmed down, with attention shifting to the future of fellow attacker Luis Diaz, whom Liverpool also aims to retain.
Ideally, by the end of the transfer window, both players will still be at Anfield, providing Slot with a squad capable of competing for major trophies in the coming season.
