Manchester United is set for an intense clash against Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. Harry Maguire returns to the squad after missing the previous match against Liverpool in South Carolina due to precautionary reasons. His participation in the game against City was uncertain, as manager Erik ten Hag mentioned on Thursday.

Despite earlier doubts, the 31-year-old defender has joined the United squad for this major season opener in London. The team’s travel to the capital, similar to their FA Cup final approach earlier this year, involved a train journey for this significant fixture.

However, the situation remains uncertain as key players like Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Luke Shaw were not seen departing from Stockport Station with the team. Ten Hag noted the ongoing uncertainty regarding Maguire and other important players, stating, “Harry Maguire missed the Liverpool match as a precaution, but his availability for Saturday is still in question.” He also mentioned that further training sessions would be necessary to assess the fitness of Maguire, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka, and Shaw.

On the bright side, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot have rejoined the squad after completing their international duties. Additionally, 17-year-old Harry Amass, who impressed in all three of United’s pre-season games in the U.S., is expected to make his debut in the upcoming match.

The confirmed squad for the Community Shield features a blend of experienced players and promising young talent:

– **Goalkeepers:** Onana, Bayindir, Heaton

– **Defenders:** Dalot, Maguire, Evans, Martinez, Amass

– **Midfielders:** Casemiro, Mount, Collyer, Eriksen, McTominay, Mainoo, Fernandes

– **Forwards:** Rashford, Amad, Antony, Garnacho, Sancho, Pellistri, Zirkzee

As Manchester United gears up for this highly anticipated match against Manchester City, the fitness of several key players will be pivotal in determining their performance. The showdown at Wembley is expected to be an exciting contest, with both teams eager to claim victory in this prestigious season opener.
