He played just like Prime Gattuso. He showed that there’s still hope for Manchester United midfield. I have rumors that he might be on the bench despite his performance but I’ll make sure that he starts every match moving forward’ – This is according to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes as he praises the underrated Manchester United player after overwhelming performance against Barnsley. He was a beast yesterday 😄❤️ It was amazing that he was in our team 💪❤️ He could be the greatest addition to our squad this season ❤️,😳
Manchester United icon Paul Scholes lavished praise on midfielder Sofyan Amrabat following his exceptional performance in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
The Moroccan midfielder was selected to fill the number six role in the final, ahead of Casemiro, who was not fully fit for the match.
Amrabat delivered an impressive performance, managing 37 touches and achieving a pass completion rate of 93% (25 out of 27 passes). He also contributed with two duels won, two clearances, two tackles, and a shot block.
Remarkably, Amrabat only lost possession three times, a notable feat considering the pressure of the high-stakes final.
After United’s 2-1 win, Scholes took to Instagram to praise Amrabat, likening the 27-year-old to a “prime Gattuso” for his dominant display in such a crucial match.
Amrabat joined Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina last summer, amid much speculation surrounding his move.
United paid a substantial €10 million loan fee to bring him in. Initially deployed as a left-back by Erik ten Hag, Amrabat eventually transitioned to his natural position in midfield.
Although his early performances at United were slow to pick up, Amrabat recently found form with strong showings against Arsenal and Newcastle United, earning him a starting role in the final.
The 56-cap international seized his chance with an outstanding display, leading to increased speculation that United might activate the €20 million option to make his transfer permanent at the end of the season.
With Casemiro no longer at his peak, the club could decide to retain Amrabat and move on from the Brazilian midfielder. However, the final decision will rest with the new management.
Even if Amrabat doesn’t stay at United, his future in the Premier League seems promising, as Fulham and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested, with scouts monitoring his form closely.
