Premier league referee explains five reasons for his errors not awarding a Red Card to Lisandro Martinez after a harsh attack on Kamada in the Man United Vs Crystal Palace game and apologizes to the Crystal Palace supporters, saying “It was not my decision.” What a stupid and senseless reasons he had just spit out 🙄🙀We are glad now that justice has now been given out 🥲🌚
The Premier League has confirmed that VAR supported referee David Coote’s decision regarding Lisandro Martinez’s two-footed challenge on Daichi Kamada during the 63rd minute of a tense 0-0 game between Manchester United and Crystal Palace. Martinez jumped into the air, landing close to Kamada, who had control of the ball. While Martinez managed to recover possession without making contact with Kamada, he was shown a yellow card, which sparked frustration among Palace players, particularly their midfielder.
Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, even ran forward to challenge Coote’s call, earning himself a yellow card as well. About 15 minutes later, the Premier League’s Match Center account clarified on social media that VAR had reviewed the tackle for a possible red card but determined it was only careless, confirming the referee’s decision.
Despite avoiding a red card, Martinez received widespread criticism for his tackle, with many shocked he wasn’t sent off. Former Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton expressed his disbelief on BBC Radio 5 Live, saying, “I can’t believe Lisandro Martinez wasn’t sent off for that tackle. It could have caused serious injury to Kamada’s ankle, and it’s not the kind of play we want in football.”
As the match progressed, Martinez was booed by Crystal Palace fans while he tried to help United secure a clean sheet. Although Manchester United had opportunities to take the lead and continue their post-international break success, they ultimately failed to capitalize, and Martinez was unable to guide his team to victory.
