I can’t lie this is my club and I’m afraid to say the truth,if eventually Ten Hag start Him against Aston Villa then He will be sacked that day”, Man united legend Rio Ferdinand reveals the One Man United player that is playing against the team now – Not Rashford and not Fernandez.

Rio Ferdinand highlighted a standout Manchester United player who is currently performing well and gaining confidence after the team’s 3-3 draw with Porto.

On Thursday, Manchester United faced Porto in their second Europa League match at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal. Under Erik ten Hag’s leadership, United started strongly, showing promise in the first 20 minutes. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the seventh minute, setting a positive tone for the game.

Rashford was instrumental again, providing an assist for Rasmus Hojlund’s goal in the 20th minute, but United’s fortunes shifted when defensive lapses allowed Porto back into the game. Seven minutes later, Pepe scored, followed by Samu Omorodion’s equalizer in the 34th minute. Porto took the lead early in the second half when Omorodion struck again, and the situation worsened for United when Bruno Fernandes was sent off, leaving the team with 10 men.

Despite these setbacks, United salvaged a point with a late equalizer from Harry Maguire, who came off the bench to score in the dying moments of the match.

Ferdinand, speaking on his YouTube channel, reflected on the performance, pointing out some positives, especially during the first 20 minutes. He praised Rashford for his direct play and commented that his goal demonstrated the kind of confidence United needs from him. He also noted Rashford’s celebration as a sign that the player is rediscovering his passion and self-belief.

However, Ferdinand questioned Ten Hag’s decision to substitute Rashford at halftime, saying, “I don’t understand it. He scores and is taken off when he’s building confidence. While he could have done better defensively on Porto’s second goal, he’s a striker who is finding his rhythm.” He emphasized that Rashford is in good form and gaining momentum.

Ferdinand also expressed disappointment with the decision to bring on Alejandro Garnacho after Rashford’s substitution, suggesting it hindered Rashford’s growth. He compared the situation to former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, noting that such prolific forwards were rarely substituted during key moments. “Removing him at halftime doesn’t help his confidence. Players like van Nistelrooy wouldn’t be taken off when they’re in a position to make an impact,” Ferdinand argued, stressing the importance of allowing in-form players to stay on the field.

In conclusion, Ferdinand’s analysis offered both praise for Rashford’s performance and criticism of tactical decisions that might affect a player’s confidence, underscoring the challenges of managing top-tier football players.
