Arsenal and Manchester United in a transfer showdown! 👀 Big moves coming—who will win the race? 🧐

As the Premier League pauses for another international break after just seven matches, clubs are already preparing for the upcoming January transfer window, with Manchester United among those aiming to make key adjustments.

United have faced heavy criticism for their recent transfer moves, especially after a slow start to the season. Despite spending £182 million on new signings and earning £88 million through player sales, the team’s on-field performance has not improved as expected.

One transfer that sparked debate was the sale of Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica for a relatively low £5 million. Fernandez, a highly-rated left-back who came through Real Madrid’s academy, spent four years at United without making a first-team appearance under Erik ten Hag. However, since moving to Benfica and featuring in ten matches, the 21-year-old has attracted attention from top clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Now, reports indicate that Manchester United may be considering triggering a buy-back clause in Fernandez’s contract to address their left-back dilemma. With Luke Shaw injured and Noussair Mazraoui possibly undergoing a minor procedure, United are in urgent need of reinforcement in that position.

Critics argue that selling Fernandez for such a small fee is indicative of United’s ongoing transfer struggles, particularly given Shaw’s injury history and Fernandez’s potential. The young defender’s impressive development in Portugal further questions the decision to let him go.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Newcastle United are said to be battling for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian international has had a standout season so far, scoring three goals and assisting one in just seven games. After Dominic Solanke’s transfer to Tottenham, Semenyo has become a key player for Bournemouth, and his recent performance against Newcastle has only increased his stock.

As Newcastle seeks to strengthen their squad for European competition, the 24-year-old Semenyo could offer the attacking dynamism Eddie Howe’s side needs. With the transfer window approaching, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle will all be keen to see how these transfer pursuit

s play out.
