The decision, which has split opinion amongst fans and media… 🗣️”This could change everything 🙀🙀… To find Find out his new role in Manchester United

Gary Neville seems to have taken on a fresh responsibility at Manchester United just days after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson from his long-standing position at the club. Earlier in the week, it was reported that Ferguson, who remains United’s most decorated manager, was relieved of his duties as director and global ambassador after serving in those roles for over ten years.

Ferguson had continued to be active at Old Trafford since his retirement in 2013, earning £2.16 million annually in these roles. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the head of INEOS and a major United shareholder, reportedly met Ferguson to inform him that this arrangement would end as part of a cost-reduction initiative. Though Ferguson will remain a non-executive director, reports suggest he will no longer have access to the dressing room, a decision that has stirred debate among fans and the media.

Current United manager Erik ten Hag commented on the development, stating, “It has an impact, Sir Alex is the embodiment of Manchester United.”

While Ferguson’s ambassadorial role has concluded, Gary Neville, his former captain, was seen over the weekend seemingly stepping into a similar position. As reported by The Sun, Neville, who made 602 appearances for United, was working as a freelance ambassador for the club. This comes despite his ongoing commitments as a sports commentator with Sky Sports and NBC, as well as his business interests, including Salford City.

Neville was recently spotted at the Minerva Academy in Mohali, India, participating in the Apollo Tyres grassroots football initiative while sporting an official Manchester United polo shirt. Additionally, he continues to play a role in the club as part of their stadium taskforce. On Sunday, Neville resumed his punditry duties, providing commentary for the Liverpool vs Chelsea match at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Ferguson opted not to attend United’s victory over Brentford at Old Trafford, choosing instead to watch Aberdeen, his former club, play agains

t Celtic.
