It’s over for us, Liverpool will win the league”- HUGE BLOW as Pep Guardiola has stated that Manchester City has no capability of beating Liverpool to win the league after several injuries damage and poor performances. Maybe after seven years another team will get to win the league

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are largely unaccustomed to dealing with consecutive losses. Recently, however, they’ve encountered a rare four-game losing streak, something the club hasn’t experienced since 2006, prior to its major transformation under new ownership. This unsettling trend is new for Guardiola too, who, in his career, had previously only lost three games in a row.
Technically, Guardiola did go through a four-match losing spell if one counts a penalty shootout defeat to VFL Wolfsburg with Bayern Munich in the 2014/15 season.
But how could this slump affect City’s aspirations for the 2024/25 Premier League crown?
In a BBC Sport interview, Guardiola hinted that City’s title defense might be in jeopardy. “Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year another team deserves it,” he suggested.
He continued, “At today’s press conference, someone asked if this was the end of an era. I know that’s what people want. I’ve sensed it for years. We’ve achieved so much, and eventually, someone will beat us. Over the next 50 years, we’re not going to win every Premier League—it’s simply not possible.”
Could City’s reign be nearing its end, or do they still have a realistic chance? With Liverpool currently five points ahead, it’s tough to say. Guardiola’s words might also be a strategy to increase the pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal as the season advances.
Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, however, seems unlikely to be influenced by Guardiola’s psychological ploys. Slot, calm and composed on the sidelines, doesn’t appear fazed, unlike Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, who may be more affected by such tactics. While Slot acknowledges City and Arsenal as benchmarks, he remains focused on his own team.
Following Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, Slot shared his mindset, saying, “This league is unpredictable, with Arsenal, City, Chelsea—all capable of winning frequently. Our focus is solely on ourselves.”
So, the ball is back in Guardiola’s court, though it remains to be seen whether his mind games will work against Slot’s discip
lined approach.
