Heartbreaking News has just been announced for Liverpool few hours before Newcastle vs Liverpool clash as reports coming from Anfield that six Liverpool stars are set to miss the big game against Newcastle today 😱😱 This is the worst news to hear today 😭💔

Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce has rejected claims that Virgil van Dijk is the greatest centre-back in Premier League history.

However, he admits that if the Liverpool captain leads his team to a league title this season, it would stand out as one of the most remarkable achievements in the competition’s history.

Van Dijk has been in outstanding form this season, helping Liverpool secure a nine-point lead at the top of the table with 11 wins out of 13 matches. His commanding performance in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City, where he effectively neutralized Erling Haaland, led Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to rank Van Dijk above Chelsea icon John Terry as the Premier League’s best-ever centre-back.

Allardyce, a former defender himself with clubs like Bolton Wanderers, Coventry City, and Millwall, disagrees with Carragher’s assessment.

“I don’t believe he’s the best of all time,” Allardyce stated. “When you look at the incredible centre-backs we’ve seen in the Premier League, he might make the top six, but he’s not number one.

“After suffering a cruciate ligament injury during his time at Everton, Van Dijk seemed to lose a bit of sharpness and struggled to read the game as he once did. But now, he’s fully recovered, which is remarkable given the nature of the injury. He’s returned to peak form.

“He’s undeniably one of the best right now, but calling him the greatest ever is an overstatement. Carragher, being a staunch Liverpool supporter, would naturally make such a claim.

“Currently, Van Dijk is head and shoulders above other centre-backs in the league, and losing him would be a significant setback fo

r Liverpool.”
