HE Needs to leave my Club this moment with immediate effect I don’t want to see him any longer – Arne Slot has instructed Liverpool FLOP to leave the Club after having less touches than the Goalkeeper and also giving away the ball to opponents. Liverpool Falters in League Cup Final Defeat to Newcastle

Liverpool delivered a lackluster performance in the League Cup final, suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United at Wembley.

Dan Burn opened the scoring before halftime, with Alexander Isak doubling Newcastle’s lead early in the second half. Federico Chiesa pulled one back for Liverpool late on, but it proved too little, too late. Despite their struggles, the Reds remain 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games to play, leaving Arne Slot still in search of his first trophy as manager.

Player Ratings:

Caoimhin Kelleher – 6

Handled routine saves well in the first half and distributed the ball effectively. Couldn’t be faulted for either goal and made a few key stops in the second half.

Jarell Quansah – 7

Other than a heavy touch that nearly gifted Isak a chance, he held his ground against Barnes and made a promising forward run. Adapted well after being shifted to different roles.

Ibrahima Konaté – 6

A mixed display—made crucial clearances but was also careless in possession. Substituted after Newcastle’s second goal.

Virgil van Dijk – 8

Dominated aerial battles against Isak and was one of Liverpool’s few bright spots. Defended aggressively and even pushed forward late in the game.

Andy Robertson – 5

Blocked key attempts from Isak and Trippier but was caught out for Newcastle’s second goal. Brought energy but struggled defensively at times.

Ryan Gravenberch – 4

Looked physically and mentally drained. Spent part of the second half at center-back before being replaced.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5

Tried to control the midfield but was frequently dispossessed. Shouldn’t have been marking Burn during set pieces. Substituted.

Mohamed Salah – 3

Had minimal influence as most of Liverpool’s attacks came from the left. Struggled to find space and was unusually ineffective.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 5

Started strong but faded quickly. Saw more of the ball in the second half but failed to make a significant impact.

Luis Díaz – 4

Had moments of promise but lacked end product. Struggled against Trippier and lacked composure in crucial situations. Substituted.

Diogo Jota – 3

Had little service and was isolated against Newcastle’s defenders. Managed one half-chance but failed to convert. Substituted.

Substitutes:

Darwin Núñez (for Jota, 57’) – 4

Had a heavy first touch inside the box and struggled to influence the game.

Curtis Jones (for Konaté, 57’) – 5

Added some energy and tested Pope with a shot but missed another opportunity.

Cody Gakpo (for Mac Allister, 67’) – 4

Put in one cross but looked short of match fitness.

Federico Chiesa (for Gravenberch, 74’) – 7

Scored a lat

e goal but had too little time to make a difference.
